Olympus launches 3D 30° EndoEye with VISERA ELITE II Surgical Imaging System in Africa

World’s best 3D imaging system results in higher cost efficiencies for surgeons and medical facilities

Johannesburg, South Africa: The very latest in surgical imaging systems with further improved 3D capabilities – VISERA ELITE II – is being launched in Africa by Olympus.

The space- and cost-effective system integrates processor and light source in one box making it extremely easy to operate. In addition, VISERA ELITE II, which just launched in March 2017 in Europe and Asia, drives the new 3D 30° rigid ENDOEYE.

Now, Olympus’ cutting edge medical technology is being displayed at Africa Health, which runs from 7-9 of June 2017 at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Johannesburg in South Africa.

“Africa is one of our key markets – and we want to partner in the development of its medical sector,” says Maurice Faber, Regional Managing Director of Olympus Middle East and Africa (MEA).

“That is why we are not only bringing the latest high-end technology like VISERA ELITE II to the Continent, but we will also transfer our proven expertise and skills by training and supporting medical professionals and users of our devices, as well as our partners here,” Faber pointed out.

New Benchmark in 3D laparoscopy

The award-winning 3D 30° EndoEye is the world’s only articulating HD 3D laparoscopic surgical imaging system, which improves the speed, accuracy and precision of surgical procedures when compared to 2D surgical systems.

This is accomplished by restoring a surgeon’s natural 3D vision and depth perception during laparoscopic procedures.

The all-in-one design integrates the light cable and camera system into the laparoscope for improved ergonomics and easier set up.

The technology is available as a module that can be easily added to an existing Olympus VISERA ELITE II Surgical Imaging System.

Infra-Red Imaging at Press of a Button

The new VISERA ELITE II surgical imaging system also features infra-red (IR) imaging, a subject of ongoing research in medical practice. Imaging can be switched between white and IR light at the touch of a conveniently located button to visualize residual tumors and more.

Space & Cost Savings

Moreover, thanks to an integrated video system center with a built-in light source for white light, the VISERA ELITE II features a compact design that is roughly 30 per cent smaller and lighter than the previous model.

Enhanced ease-of-use can also be expected thanks to the adoption of a touch panel and LED light source.
