Theme: Decolonising Minds: Plan for Oral Health in Africa
Good oral health is one of the essential building blocks of living well. In the African region, poor oral health causes millions of people to suffer. For example, health studies in 2018 showed that 60% of children in South African primary schools suffered from tooth decay, with 80% of the tooth decay untreated. This has detrimental effects on children’s health and development.
Across Southern African, there is a higher mandate to focus more on providing better oral care and educating the population. With this in mind, the new one-day Dental Conference has been developed to focus on the strategy towards achieving stronger oral health in Africa. Bringing in local and regional experts to discuss the goals and how to achieve them, this conference is a must attend for those invested in the future of oral health and how to improve this for the greater population.
