Competition overview:
Cre8 is a new exciting student entreupreneur competition designed to harness the untapped talent and creativity within South African universities. Our goal is to empower students to think critically about real-world healthcare challenges, develop innovative solutions, and learn how to present and implement their ideas effectively.
Dates: 22- 24 October 2024
Venue: Cape Town International Convention Centre, South Africa
Application deadline: 10 October 2024
Objectives:
To inspire, encourage, and nurture
Students from various universities in South Africa to imagine, innovate, and create using an imaginary budget of ZAR 500,000
Foster Innovation:
Cre8 inspires students to ideate creatively, strategise financially, and plan projects realistically within an imaginary budget.
Encourage Entrepreneurship:
Cre8 provides students a platform to propose, defend their own ideas, fostering an entrepreneurial spirit like real-world experiences.
Address Healthcare Challenges:
Cre8 motivates students to create solutions for real-world healthcare problems.
Competition format:
- Top 4 teams will be selected for the competition
- Each team will include a maximum of 4 participants
- Each team will have 8 minutes to pitch followed by 5 minutes of Q&A with judges
- The top 3 will be selected: 1 winner, 1st Runner-up and 2nd Runner-up
Parameters:
- Come up with an idea within the budget provided that is related to a field of medicine (can be any discipline e.g. Radiology, Oncology, Diabetes or Alzheimers)
- The idea should solve some sort of problem/issue in that field OR an idea that does something better for something that already exists
- They should propose a business plan indicating: Answer the hows!
- How did they land the idea i.e what research was done to find this gap in the market
- How was the budget allocated
- How did they hypothetically produce it, and how will the clinical trials run (if applicable)
- How will they market it to individuals in the field
- How will they measure the success of the product
