Tell us about your organisation, its activities in Africa, and the journey to date.

At Fujifilm Medical Systems in South Africa, we believe in the constant improvement of quality medical care. We strive towards a society that puts health first, with an emphasis on prevention and the early detection of disease. In 1936, Fujifilm launched our healthcare business with X-ray film, and haven’t stopped innovating since. Today, our solutions span diagnostic, enterprise, endoscopic and surgical imaging, as well as in-vitro diagnostics, regenerative medicine and life sciences. As the importance of accessible healthcare becomes apparent in a post-COVID world, Fujifilm’s Medical Systems Division in South Africa will continue to innovate to improve patient outcomes and advance healthcare across the continent.

Please dispel some misconceptions about healthcare in Africa and identify some areas of growth and opportunities.

Growth areas in Africa for Fujifilm are in point-of-care devices such as our dry chemistry analysis, our TB LAM urine analyser, portable X-ray device, as well as non-helium and helium-based MRI's, CT's and X-rays. Fujifilm Healthcare strives to innovate towards meeting healthcare requirements and needs at all levels of healthcare segments.
